Money
One charge. Then a refund of what you kept.
The app is free. The only money in the base contract is the stake you choose. Miss and Pay charges that full amount once, before day 1, with Stripe Checkout in payment mode. The amount is set on that session. It is not a saved price you pick from a menu. The line on the charge reads Miss and Pay deposit. Refundable for each day you complete.
This is not a wallet. You cannot spend the deposit, send it, or hold it as a balance. A day you miss is retained as the fee for the broken day. A day you keep is refunded at the end, in one partial refund of the original charge. If you close early, days that are not yet due are refunded too. Forfeited days are not.
Stripe's refunds documentation says a refund can cover part of a charge, cannot exceed the original charge, and goes back to the original payment method. It says Stripe's processing fee on the original charge is not returned to the business. Your refund is still the full amount for the days you kept. The same docs say you often see the credit in about 5 to 10 business days, and that a refund sent very soon after the charge can show up as the original charge dropping off the statement. Contracts are 7, 14, or 30 days so the refund is requested while the charge is recent. The refunds page does not publish one deadline for every card.
Stripe's restricted businesses list prohibits gambling, including games that pay a prize, and restricts money transmission and the sale of stored value. Miss and Pay does not run a prize, a pool, or a credit you can redeem. The list is public at stripe.com/legal/restricted-businesses. The refunds page is at docs.stripe.com/refunds.
The coach is a different charge. $19 once per contract. The Checkout name is Miss and Pay coach for one contract. It pays for a note after each kept day and a change to the next task. It is not mixed into the deposit and it is not part of the refund.
Other contracts move money later. Beeminder charges a pledge after you cross a line. stickK charges after a failed report and can send that money to a person or a charity. Forfeit describes a card hold that is captured when you miss. Miss and Pay takes the deposit first and sends back what you earned.
